The Basics

First things first you need to download, the program to play with it, duh......

Second, install it. (I apologize if I'm being too obvious.)

Third, find the Autoit help file. This is your bible when it comes to Autoit.
It has all the functions supported in Autoit with descriptions, and examples of how to use it.

Best help file ever. (No kidding)

At this point your are still probably scratching your head. No worries, find the folder,
Examples in the Autoit directory.

Open any file you like in there with notepad, or SciTe (the editor that comes with Autoit).

Read the scripts. The comments denoted by the semicolons, should explain a bit what is going on.

One you have read the script. Run it. This will give you an idea, what the code does.
(What can I say, baby steps)

An understanding of any programming language is essential.

I recommend reading in the help file, the sections on variables, and operators.
This will save you some time.
